her imagined backyard

Within the backyard lies a hidden world, a collection of concealed gardens, covered windows, buried secrets. I am interested in this backyard microcosm, one of real and imagined beauty, fear and anxiety. I am drawn to the way a home can be at once both comforting and unsettling, the way the shadows offer secluded privacy and harbored mystery. These fragmented photographic narratives present a glimpse of the power of imagination as it negotiates this transitional and mysterious place, inviting curiosity and wonder. At the threshold between the privacy of home and the exposure of the world outside, the backyard provides a haven for imagination to run free. I portray the tensions between the wild forgotten corners and the human attempts to control them. Amidst this cultivated beauty, as the weeds and moss and vines persist to grow, I am constantly wondering, what lies beneath?
